Following the activities of competing communications programs like Telegram, Line and Kik, the newest hoping to go into the cryptosphere is Viber. The company is contemplating support for a native token which will be established by its parent firm, Rakuten Coin.
Viber is an instant messaging and voice over IP program initially developed in Israel. It was purchased by the Japanese online giant Rakuten at 2014 for $900 million, and today has more than a billion registered customers globally. Its parent firm, which announced plans to establish ‘Rakuten Coin’ according to its current loyalty program back in February, is allegedly now analyzing Russian legislation so as to establish the token via Viber in Russia in 2019.
“Our mother company is creating Rakuten Coin: cryptocurrency, which is supported by the entire Rakuten ecosystem,” Viber Chief Executive Officer Djamel Agaoua told colleagues on Tuesday in accordance with this Russian news bureau Tass. “This Rakuten Coin will be tradeable in Viber,” along with the token will look at the Viber wallet,” he noted. “Very soon you’ll be able to send some Rakuten Coins and to trade Rakuten Coins against rubles, dollars and euros,” with potential transfers to bank account based on Russian law.
Leading communications programs have been a part of this cryptocurrency ecosystem for a little while now. Back at 2017 Kik Messenger, that has over 300 million registered users and is largely popular with teens, increased almost $100 million by greater than 10,000 ICO investors in 117 nations because of its Kin token. Telegram increased a whopping $1.7 billion earlier this season by a little group investors only in expectation of an ICO which was not eventually desired.
And only last week it had been reported the operator of Line, Japan’s hottest chat program with roughly 200 million consumers globally, has supported the forthcoming launch of its cryptocurrency market called Bitbox. The brand new platform will record over 30 of their very well-known cryptocurrencies, offering “low trading fees”. Supporting 15 languages, the new exchange will start internationally, except for 2 nations.
