Cryptocurrency trade Gemini has hired former New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) chief information officer Robert Cornish to function as its first chief technology officer.
The market, based on investor-brothers Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, declared Friday which Cornish are accountable for Gemini’s tech group and plan, based on a press release. Further, Cornish will be overseeing the installation of Nasdaq’s SMARTS Market Surveillance, a standard for “real-time and T1” options for market surveillance.
The marketplace surveillance job will “enable Gemini to monitor across all of its order books as well as Gemini Auctions, which are used to determine the settlement price for the Bitcoin (USD) Futures Contracts that trade on Cboe Futures Exchange, LLC,” Gemini clarified.
The news is two weeks later Gemini received approval to expand its own cryptocurrency offerings in the country of New York, including zcash to its record of tradeable coins. )
Gemini currently works under a banking charter in the country, though it hasn’t obtained the nation’s landmark BitLicense, as reported CoinDesk.
